  Acupuncture

Acupuncture prevents and treats conditions through the insertion of fine sterile disposable needles into selected acupuncture points of the body. This process promotes the body’s natural healing process to improve function and to restore balance to the body. When our body is out of balance, symptoms, disease and illness occur.

Acupuncture is one of the four pillars that make up Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM); the others include Moxabustion, Tuina Chinese massage and Chinese Herbs. These pillars work together in combination as a complete medical system known as Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Here at Acupuncture Care we practice the balanced method of acupuncture also known as distal point acupuncture. Therefore most acupuncture points chosen are located from the knee and elbow down. This method of acupuncture allows movement during treatment to increase Range of Motion and mobility. This stimulates the nervous system via the midbrain increasing blood flow, endorphins, prostaglandins and hormone production. It is a very effective method of treatment with proven quality results.

Acupuncture most commonly treats but is not limited to the following:

  • Chronic pain
  • Joint pain
  • Muscle-skeletal pain
  • Arthritic pain
  • Facial rejuvenation
  • Fertility
  • Women’s health (irregular periods, painful periods, PCOS, endometriosis, PMS)
  • Menopause
  • Allergies
  • Anxiety
  • Insomnia
  • Depression
  • Mental emotional disorders
  • Digestive disorders (IBS, Crohns, Constipation, Diarrhea)
How many treatments will I need?

Everyone is a unique individual. No person’s imbalances or conditions are identical to those of anyone else. Using TCM diagnosis, your practitioner will determine your body’s current imbalance at your first visit. This will include looking for certain physiological changes on your tongue, taking your pulse, learning your complete health history, and asking many questions about your body and habits. Once your imbalance is determined, an acupuncture and Chinese herbs tailor-made treatment for your body will be preceded. No matter whether your practitioner primarily uses acupuncture or Chinese herbal medicine or some combination of both, the focus will be on eliminating the root imbalance that is causing your condition.

Acupuncture is recognized by the World Health Organization to treat several disease and disorders. For a complete list please see: http://apps.who.int/medicinedocs/en/d/Js4926e/5.html
